Well, frankly folks, I'm swamped. Inundated. Overwhelmed. Gots too much to do. Here is the clif notes version:
Got off the trail in late June, as you know. Sat around my father's house fishing and looking for contract work for about a month. Migrated up to my sister's house near Reading PA, did some housework. Got contacted by a new startup called Purpose Campaigns to be a 'lead developer' which is actually more of a 'Chief Technology Officer' position. Pay was ok, and I was short on cash so I locked in til the end of the year. They needed me in the city by Aug. 15.
We are hiring on more people, scrambling to meet deadlines and I'm working my second straight weekend in a row, as I type this. On top of that, this big umbrella company that I've been talking about for years is starting to take shape in my brain.
I'll probably post more on that later. It's the kind of idea that needs to sit and ferment for years before it is ripe, but when it is ready to go you have to roll with it. So, me and my business partners are starting 3 or more new small businesses before the end of the year. It's really happening.
Annnnnd. Things are starting to fall through the cracks. I haven't operated at this level of stress and lack of sleep since college with 18 credits, 35/hrs/wk job, and stage managing two shows. Thing is, I ain't 21 any more. I can still do this stuff, I just don't bounce back as easily. S'okay, cause I'll take the trade off of skill and experience for recuperation and energy, any day, but still... wouldn't it be nice to have both?
I've put some feelers out to get an assistant for the yet-to-be-named-umbrella-company, realistically just a few hours in Oct, then hopefully part time in Sept. to help manage the workload. Even then, things will continue to be harried, but it is all taking shape.
So, ya'll got the email and the phone number, and that "contact" link up there actually works, but if you don't hear from me, you know what is going on. I'm in the zone, and taking names. Cheers.
